When visiting the state of Maryland a person may not think there is anything to do. The Maryland solar rays and crab cakes are the two popular reasons people visit but there's a lot more to do. These are five places to visit when in the state of Maryland.


National Aquarium

This is said to be one of the best aquariums in the world. There are many exhibits and all of the animals are treated humanely. The place is engaging and educational at the same time. There are over 20,000 different animals that live at this aquarium. This includes various types of fish, birds, marine life, and even sharks. There are several tours that a person can go on and they can see how these marine creatures live.


Maryland Eastern Shore

This is the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay and is one of the most visited places in the state. There are historic towns that a person can visit. Several beaches are open to the public. When visiting the eastern shore it is recommended to stop in Chestertown or St. Michaels. These are two of the towns that are welcoming to tourists and have a lot of attractions. Ocean City, which is a big tourist area is also located on this side of the bay. There are many towns to stop by and check out and a person can pick from the big city to a setting that is more laid back


Annapolis

This is the state capital and there is a lot to do and to see in this city. This is a destination for people that like to sail. This city has been called the sailing capital of the world. A person can rent a boat to take out or they can take a trip with the experienced crew. If a person wants to take a lesson they can visit the Annapolis Sailing School. There is also the U.S Naval Academy which offers tours. The town has architecture from the 18th century which is cool to look at. 


Ocean Pines

This town has a lot to do but is not as crowded as the tourist area of Ocean City. This town offers hotels and entertainment that is also more affordable. Many places can be rented that are near the beach. The beach may be a couple of minutes away and a person but have to drive there but it is an ideal location for those that like a quiet setting. This town also has several fishing boats and tours for those that want to go into the ocean to fish. There are many different types of fish to go after.


Lusby

This is a great place for people that love the outdoors. It is located in the southwestern part of the Chesapeake Bay. There is scenery like many people have never experienced before. There are jagged cliffs that are right along the bay. People come to this town to search for fossils and other hidden treasures along the shore. Some of these items are millions of years old and there have been some interesting finds in this area. For those that like to hike there are many great trails. This town also has some great fishing and there are even pole rentals for beginners.


These are some of the best places to stay in Maryland. While this state is small it is big on fun and there is a lot to do for those that like history and people that enjoy being outdoors.
