Traveling has been around since the origin of mankind, and it has been evolving since the beginning of time. There was a time when people were completely immobile aside from walking and using animals such as horses, camels, and donkey’s (just to name a few) to carry an individual to their destination or haul valuables and materials. With that being said, fast forward to the twenty first century and mankind has made leaps and bounds in the evolution of the way all things and people are transported today.
The world that exist today could not have been fathomed by those who inhabited the earth many centuries ago and vice versa. It is unfathomable in today’s age what the world would be like without vehicles. Today there are various forms of transportation including air crafts, spacecrafts, and so forth. It all depends on the purpose of the destination what an individual may choose to travel in. Nothing beats the nostalgia of a good old fashioned tried and true road trip!
Here are the 5 best road trip destinations in the United States.

#1 The Grand Canyon is one of the seven wonders of the world and one of the best road trip destinations. The Grand Canyon is located in northern Arizona, which is a great location to get to. If you come down through Utah you get the scenes of mountains and red rock. The best midsize truck is good to take on this route so you can navigate the rocky terrain. Once you get into the Grand Canyon there are beautiful sights to see. Forests, animals, and… canyons! You can camp out in the canyon or hike some of its many trails. The best road trip destination has things to do when you get there. If you are really adventurous you can go on the longest hike there, the rim-to-rim. It is 44 miles round trip and takes about a week to complete. If you aren’t into camping or hiking, you can keep the road trip alive by driving through the grand canyon!

#2 Bar Harbor Maine is an amazing road trip destination. Have you ever toured the east coast? Maine is at the farthest point of the coast which gives you the opportunity to see a lot from the comfort of your car, on your way. Pack accordingly because it can get chillier than expected on the rocky coast. It is a beautiful trip as you can ride along the coast and stop at all the old towns to get your lobster dinners or morning coffees. You can enjoy the view of the ocean with sailboats floating away. One of the most famous lighthouses is home to Maine. It is called the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. The second tip would be to pack accordingly.

#3 The Redwood forest that spreads along the northern coast of California is a trip to take. Looking at pictures is one thing, but experiencing the beauty of the trees yourself is an entirely different thing. There are multiple state parks throughout the forest so spending a day at each and then packing up and hitting the road to get to the next will make for a fun trip. The forest provides free, ranger-led programs that will give you more facts and information about the forests you are driving through and admiring. You can also animal watch throughout the forest and may even see black bears, elk, deer, and cougars.

#4 Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania and Delaware is a hidden gem. Honestly the best way to experience this road trip is in a good old minivan, packed full with your family and friends. Driving along this historic and scenic valley will give you an experience with classic America. You can stay in cute air b n b's and cabins on the way. There are many little family owned diners as well. You won’t get a better bacon and pancake breakfast.

#5 To road trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula you will have to drive the most northern tip of Michigan’s Upper peninsula. When you get here, you will also experience one of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior. The Keweenaw is made up of the biggest freshwater on Earth. This place is known as Michigan’s copper country.
This destination road trip includes a lot of scenery. So if you aren’t looking to go on a vacation and do a bunch of things, and you are more of a relaxing type, this is your road trip destination. You can admire scenic drives, water falls, historic national parks, and beaches.
